While the (tentative) news that the leak is reduced or stopped is (long overdue) good news, the legacy of the spill is just beginning. Currently, a 22-mile underwater plume is spreading into some of the most rich and productive waters in the Gulf of Mexico and is poised to enter the food chain. This means the you and I will be eating toxic oil-laden fish for years to come as there is virtually no way to clean this up. This truly is a disaster of epic proportions. [
